Mahendra Kapoor is no more

Mahedra Kapoor -- known as voice of Mr. Bharat (Manoj Kumar) passed away on September 27, 2008 in Mumbai following cardiac failure.

In a career spanning five decades he had recorded more than 25,000 songs in various languages. He was also well known in Marathi movies for being the playback singer for Dada Kondke.

He was earlier dismissed as a clone of Mohammad Rafi. When Rafi sang on the All India Radio or stage in the early 1950s, Mahendra Kapoor used to accompany him with tanpura. Since their voices were similar, Rafi had told him that they should avoid singing together.
